|
Black C-33 is a concentrated liquid for
producing a deep black color tones on Copper, brass & bronze at room
temperature. Black C-33 is used primarily for decorative purposes to
produce a deep black color finish.
| OPERATING CONDITIOINS: |
| Concentration: |
1 part Black C-33 to 1 part of water. |
| Temperature: |
65º - 75º F. |
| Time: |
10 - 60 seconds by immersion, spray or rag. |
| Tank: |
Acid resistant containers (plastic, P.V.C. or Polyethylene) |
Color Formation:
Color formation is depended upon time of immersion and concentration of solution. For a dark black finish, dilute the solution with 1 part of water and the immersion time should be 10-60 seconds depending on the desired color.
Surface Preparation:
Parts should be free of grease, alkalinity or acidity when immersed
in Black C-33 solution.
- Clean the part with Cleaner 104.
|
- Immerse pieces in Black C-33 for the time necessary
to achieve the desired color. For small parts, stainless steel
or plastic baskets should be used and often simple tumbling
is enough.
|
- Rinse thoroughly with over flowing cold water, to stop chemical reaction.
|
- The finish is easily relieved by brushing or by mechanical polishing to produce a variety of antique finishes. To produce a uniformly colored finish, tumble or vibrate the parts in sawdust. Large pieces can be wiped dry or buffed.
|
- It is recommended that a clear water base lacquer (e.g. WSL-55) be applied to the coating to provide maximum life.
|
Bath Maintenance:
Since blackening with Black C-33 is a chemical reaction between
the solution and metal surface, the chemical activity will diminish
as the solution is used. When the time required to produce the desired
color increases, add 5% by volume of Triblack C-33 liquid concentrate.
Caution:
The Black C-33 is a mildly acidic solution. Avoid contact
with the skin or eyes. Protective clothing, gloves, and a face shield
should be worn when operating. In case of contact, flush skin or eyes
with plenty of water. For eyes, call a physician. Black C-33 liquid
is poisonous; do not take internally!
